This course equips learners with the knowledge and tools to measure, manage, and reduce food loss and waste across the food system. By the end of this course, you will be able to define and distinguish food loss from food waste, identify hotspots across production, handling, storage, retail, and consumption, and apply core measurement principles, including relevance, completeness, transparency, and accuracy, to select quantification methods suited to real operational constraints.
This course learns how to align interventions with the food recovery hierarchy and develop coordinated strategies that reduce loss while improving efficiency and resilience throughout the supply chain.
This course is structured into four modules followed by a final assessment, covering foundational principles, quantification methods, and practical actions that drive measurable impact.
