Transitioning Agriculture for Better Outcomes

Image
The Repurposing Agriculture program will help clients analyze their current public investment and identify better alternatives. The program seeks to increase awareness and strengthen a coalition for accelerated repurposing of agricultural public policies and expenditures. The program will work with least 40 countries to inform their efforts to repurpose at least US$20 billion. It will equip stakeholders with knowledge, data, tools, and cross-country experiences to operationalize successful agricultural repurposing.   The program will offer a platform for south-south and south-north learning forums, seminars (virtual and face-to-face), fundamental e-learning, a community of practice, regional hubs, data and tools, and communication solutions.

Repurposing Agriculture builds on:

  • a growing body global and country-specific knowledge products;
  • ongoing dialogues and conferences at the global and regional levels covering analysis and policy alternatives;
  • eLearning on tools for public expenditure reviews leveraged from development partners;
  • country dialogues, grants, and technical assistance to help clients identify the best areas to be reformed; and
  • a self-paced eLearning with three modules that will help clients understand the need for reform, the tools to help the reform process, and alternatives for agriculture public investments.

As the program develops, it will link to other products and programs to help clients develop their support to climate-smart agrifood system that is resilient, nourishing, and a good business for farmers. Repurposing Agriculture and the alternatives for investment are being developed by teams with funding from the FoodSystems 2030 Multi-Donor Trust Fund, which includes the following six themes: Public Policies and Expenditures; Climate Smart Agriculture; Food and Nutrition Security; Sustainable and Healthy Diets; Agribusiness; and Digital Agriculture, Data & Innovations.
