This course delves into the critical role of accurate, timely weather data in modern agriculture and how it is integrated with research to support farmers’ decision-making. It highlights Kenya’s innovative Big Data platform, developed by KALRO with World Bank support, which delivers geospatial agro-weather updates, market trends, and climate-smart farming advisories through mobile apps, web portals, and SMS. With over 8,000,000 smallholder farmers benefiting from this initiative, the course examines its impact on productivity and resilience. Experts will discuss how Kenya’s digital agriculture strategies, including the One Million Farmer Platform, can be adapted and scaled to other regions. Participants will gain insights into leveraging data and digitization to drive agricultural transformation globally.
