Overview

In September 2024, Sustainable Renewables Risk Mitigation Initiative (SRMI) at the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) partnered with GIZ GET.transform, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the University of Cape Town to launch a successful 9-month hybrid training program on effective renewable energy tendering, engaging 60 participants from 12 African countries.

The program addresses critical capacity gaps in designing competitive procurement processes for bankable renewable energy projects. Building on this success, SRMI-ESMAP is launching a second program targeting 17 francophone countries in Africa and the Middle East in partnership with Morocco's Renewable Energy Agency (Masen), PPIAF, the African Development Bank, GET.transform, AFD and IRENA.
