Africa's abundant solar and wind resources offer immense potential for renewable energy development, yet unlocking private investment requires robust and transparent tendering processes. This intensive 9-month capacity building program empowers energy sector leaders across Africa and the Middle East with the expertise to design and execute competitive tenders that attract bankable private investment in solar, wind, and hybrid projects.

This series is aimed at practitioners from World Bank client ministries (ministries of energy, finance, industry, environment) and other entities interested in industrial, public and residential energy efficiency. Participants will gain a solid understanding of industrial, public and residential energy efficiency fundamentals, with tailored deep dives. The series also dives into program design, including financing.

This series focusing on Utility Finance is geared towards operational staff from World Bank client utilities, ministries, regulators, or other entities, who would benefit from a better understanding of financial analysis & modeling for power utilities. Participants will strengthen their understanding of the fundamentals of corporate finance and how these apply to power utilities.

This initiative is a collaboration between the World Bank's Energy and Extractives Global Practice, ESMAP, and the Quality Infrastructure Investment Partnership. The platform supports stakeholders in the power sector by promoting best practices, operational efficiency, business stimulation, and technological innovation. Its goal is to accelerate the energy transition through enhanced collaboration and innovation.

This course provides an introduction to demand-side Energy Efficiency (EE) and its role in sustainable development. Participants will examine the drivers, barriers, and processes that shape EE implementation. They will also gain a solid understanding of the EE project cycle for planning and executing impactful initiatives.

The Coal Regions Learning Academy helps stakeholders in the Western Balkans and Ukraine plan and implement fair and effective coal transition processes. Through six interactive e-learning courses, participants gain knowledge on just transition, community support, financing, and environmental restoration. The Academy also offers access to expert insights, reports, and practical tools to support sustainable change.

The WIM Success Lab empowers Women in Mining organisations by strengthening their capacity to support women in the mining industry. Through sixteen multilingual modules, participants gain practical skills in governance, leadership, technical areas, and finance. The platform also fosters global collaboration, helping WIM organisations share resources, network, and drive transformation in the industry.

The Women’s Employment in Energy Sector Utilities Toolkit offers practical guidance to increase women’s employment and advancement in energy utilities. It includes four modules focused on strategy, recruitment, workplace support, and career advancement. The toolkit provides free resources to help companies overcome barriers and promote gender equality.

Offshore wind has the potential to deliver clean energy and economic benefits to emerging markets, but its development is complex and challenging. This course provides lessons and key success factors from global offshore wind leaders to guide policymakers and stakeholders. It focuses on adapting international best practices to local contexts for sustainable and effective sector development.

This course explores the causes and effects of urban heat and introduces strategies to cool cities through technical solutions and policies. Participants will learn about barriers to implementation, financing mechanisms, and global best practices. By the end, they will gain tools to design effective, inclusive, and sustainable urban cooling initiatives.

The Energy Modelling Platform is a three weeklong intensive training program on modelling tools for sustainable development, consisting of one week of advance online training, followed by two weeks of in-person training focusing on country-specific case studies with hands-on assistance from trainers, and organized together with a consortium of development partners and academic institutions.
