Social Protection

This course is offered to World Bank client countries, with a view to leveraging the combined impact of World Bank knowledge, financing and partnership. The course materials target senior analysts, lead technical advisors, and program directors at regional and national levels. The course further welcomes decision-makers in planning, budget, and finance ministries who are key stakeholders in social protection program funding and rollout.

This course engages in peer learning on scaling programs that create jobs for the poor. As the flagship learning event of the Social Protection Global Practice, the Forum featured sessions focused on taking successful programs to scale, program design innovations, and policy integration, on key themes such as youth employment, women’s empowerment, food security and nutrition, and climate resilience. 

This course provides a self-paced, e-learning approach to building a strong foundation in pension knowledge. Topics include pension design, system performance assessment, regulation, and pension modeling, with practical applications and case studies to reinforce learning. The course concludes with a final assessment to evaluate understanding of the material. 

This self-paced e-learning course delves into the process of identifying environmental and social (E&S) risks. Through a practical case study, participants explore how identifying risks and impacts leads to the development of appropriate action plans. The course highlights the importance of effective risk identification in E&S risk management

This course provides social protection practitioners with insights on using safety nets to prevent gender-based violence (GBV). Based on the Safety First toolkit, it offers practical strategies for integrating GBV prevention into social protection programs. The course focuses on addressing the impact of GBV on human capital, productivity, and well-being.

This course provides insights into the key economic concepts related to the Jobs agenda and its role in reducing poverty and promoting economic growth. It explores the evolution of the Jobs agenda in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, technological change, and green transitions. The course also covers the World Bank Group’s approach to addressing jobs-related challenges in client countries. 

This course equips participants to identify barriers preventing women’s participation and career advancement in the water sector. It provides tools and approaches to address these challenges and improve access to better jobs for women. Participants will gain a deep understanding of how to create opportunities for women in the water sector.
